The St. Croix Welcome Center is excited to announce that they are sponsoring a unique art contest that invites artists to explore one of the most iconic moments in cinematic history. This contest is an opportunity for artists to showcase their talents by capturing the profound essence of the final scene from The Shawshank Redemption, pictured below.

The Contest Requirements
Participants in the contest are tasked with creating a 3-foot painting or drawing depicting the final scene of The Shawshank Redemption. Artists are encouraged to bring their own interpretation and emotional connection to the scene. Whether it’s through the use of color, texture, or unique artistic styles, the goal is to convey the powerful emotions that this moment evokes.
If you wish to participate in the contest, please fill out this form (Sign up). The final date to sign up will be September 25th. The Welcome Center is excited to see all of the submissions!
Display of Submissions and Voting Period
All submissions will be proudly displayed at the St. Croix Welcome Center, turning the space into a gallery of diverse interpretations of this iconic film scene. While they are on display, a public vote will take place which will allow for locals and tourists to vote for their favorite piece. This interactive element adds an exciting dimension to the contest, allowing the community to engage with the art on a deeper level. So, make sure to stop in to vote because you could help a local artist win $2,500!
Grand Prize
The artist whose work receives the most votes will be awarded a grand prize of $2,500. This prize not only recognizes the talent and effort of the winning artist but also celebrates the impact of their interpretation of this powerful scene.
