If you’re anything like me, a fun night of revelry at the St. Thomas Carnival can leave you feeling a bit rough around the edges the next day. Thankfully, there’s a cure for that: a day at Magens Bay. Take some time to explore St. Thomas before returning to St. Croix.

This beach is the perfect antidote to any carnival-induced hangover. First off, the drinks are on point. There’s a beach bar serving up cold beers, frozen margaritas, and all manner of tropical concoctions that’ll help you forget about that headache in no time. And if you’re not quite ready for alcohol, fear not—there are plenty of fresh juices and smoothies to choose from as well.
But let’s talk about the real reason you’re here: the beach itself. Magens Bay is the stuff of postcards. The water is a mesmerizing turquoise, the sand is soft and warm, and the lush green hillside scenery is straight out of a movie. You’ll feel like you’ve landed in paradise. And if you’re worried about crowds, fear not—while Magens Bay is one of the most popular beaches in the Caribbean, it’s also huge, so there’s plenty of space for everyone.

But it’s not just the scenery that makes Magens Bay the perfect hangover cure. There are also plenty of food options to help you refuel. You can grab a snack from one of the beach vendors, or head to the nearby food court for a full meal. There are burgers, pizza, and even fresh seafood to choose from. And if you’re feeling particularly lazy, you can even get food and drinks delivered right to your beach chair.

One of my favorite parts of Magens Bay was the local volleyball scene. As you walk down the beach on weekends, you’ll eventually come across a group of locals playing a heated game of beach volleyball. They’re friendly, and always happy to let visitors join in on the fun. There’s nothing like a game of volleyball to get the blood pumping and shake off any lingering cobwebs.

And if you’re lucky enough to visit Magens Bay during carnival season, you’ll find that the party doesn’t stop at the beach. Many local families and visitors have a tradition of setting up elaborate day camps with music, food, and matching t-shirts to keep the carnival celebration going one final day. It’s a joyous, colorful scene with an incredible backdrop.
All in all, Magens Bay is the perfect beach day-after-hangover solution. Great drinks, great food, incredible scenery, and even a chance to play some volleyball. It’s no wonder that it’s one of the most popular beaches in the Caribbean. So next time you find yourself feeling a bit rough after a night of carnival revelry, grab your beach bag and head to Magens Bay. Your hangover will thank you.
