If you missed Tart Wars this past Saturday, you missed one of the most vibrant and flavorful community events of the summer. Held on July 19th along the Frederiksted waterfront, the second annual Tart Wars brought thousands together to celebrate local culture, community pride, and—of course—the island’s beloved tarts.

Hosted by local influencer West Gyul, Tart Wars 2025 delivered a full day of fun, flavor, and friendly competition. Crowds decked out in Team Coconut, Team Guava, and Team Pineapple gear filled the streets for what’s fast becoming one of St. Croix’s most anticipated summer traditions. From “Kidsville” play zones and cultural displays to food vendors and a ping pong ball voting system, this event offered something for everyone.

The competition was fierce and delicious. In the three main rounds—trivia, games, and community voting—each flavor took home a win: Pineapple conquered trivia, Coconut triumphed in the games, and Guava won the crowd’s hearts in the community vote. With all three teams tied, organizers called for a sudden-death showdown. The final challenge: keep your tart from falling. In the end, only one tart stood tall—Coconut—claiming its second consecutive Tart Wars crown and solidifying its status as the reigning flavor champion.

Judges also crowned winners in the best-tasting tart categories:
