Find time to exercise!
Procrastination is a problem, you start working out with all the hype and excitement to keep your body in shape, but it is summer, and the heat is on. Exercise makes you sweat and hot. What should you do to keep your body in shape? What can you do to motivate yourself to continue exercising? Ok, Virgin Islanders, I got it…
Exercise will always be an improvement to your overall health and well-being. So, let’s choose an activity that you will enjoy and reap the benefits of exercising at least once a day for 15, 30 minutes to an hour. Get on schedule and start the meditation yoga track, instead of running or walking in the sun or treadmill, followed by a rushing cold shower.
Grab a yoga mat, take deep breaths, and slowly use your muscles to lift your weight and strengthen the muscles. Yoga exercises and meditation help heal stress and strengthen your muscles, avoid heat stroke, and take soothing easy relaxed muscle tension off your body. Spread the mat and use the comfort of your home or yoga exercise with friends and family who are up to the task.

Let go of the sweets and drink plenty of water!
Important to make sure you’re eating a variety of fruits, nutrient-rich foods, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains.
Drink lots of WATER preferably 6-8 glasses a day… with a squeeze of lime or lemon is ok too.

Get Plenty of Rest…Sleep!
Getting enough sleep is vital. The recommendation is to get 8 hours. Avoid caffeine and alcohol before bed. Poor sleep can lead to a variety of different health problems.
Stay positive and attend to your mental health. Protect your mindset and keep in a good mental state about positive things in your life. Problems in life do arise but don’t overwhelm your mind with negative thoughts. Maintaining a positive outlook, practicing self-care, leaning on your social support, and exercising is always a big help. And of course, eating healthy is very important as well.

Manage Your Stress Levels.
Stress can hurt your overall health, so it’s important to find ways to manage your stress levels. This might include things like yoga, meditation, deep breathing exercises, or spending time outdoors in nature. Go to the beach, dip into a pool, sing a song, read a good book, watch a nice movie, just keep that depression and its related anxieties out of your life.

Medical checkups are a good way of monitoring your health.
Monitor and check your blood pressure, cholesterol, sugar levels, and cancer screenings as recommended as a part of your annual check-up.
Be a better advocate for yourself, the healthcare system can be a bit slow and frustrating. Speak up and get a professional to listen to your issues and get the help you need to correct these problems your body is going through. Keep a list of your symptoms and get to a doctor fast. Have a checklist of your issues and make sure your doctor finds a solution to your health. If you can’t see a doctor, try a local teledoc over the phone for your health advice.
How to keep records:
- Write the date and time for each note so that your doctor can help.
- Identify any possible patterns of your symptoms.
- Keep track of the history more accurately.
Doctor Appointments to-do list:
- Respect your doctor’s time and attend appointments.
- If you must cancel, do so with plenty of advance notice.
- Skipping or missing appointments can hurt your patient-doctor relationship and stop another person from getting the treatment or advice they need.
- Asking questions and communicating your concerns articulately.
- Advocating for yourself and listening to healthcare professionals, you’re entitled to a second opinion if you feel that your concerns aren’t being properly addressed.
