Since Melanie and I have only been on St. Croix for a couple of weeks (and we don’t have a car), we haven’t had much time to explore parts of the island other than the obvious ones. We were in for a pleasant surprise when our friend, Keller, visited St. Croix and led us to the most secret gem in Christiansted.
One house in Christiansted becomes very popular on Fridays and Saturdays. The smell alone drew us in immediately. Unfortunately, we didn’t catch the chef’s name, but she made the best Jamaican food we’ve ever had.
Each week, the menu is sent out on Friday nights for islanders to come and enjoy. The menu changes each week depending on what they make. These cooks work hard because they spend the entire night cooking, from 7 pm-3 am.
Driving there, we sent in our order of stewed conch, curry goat, and jerk chicken. The entire way there, Keller kept repeating that this was the best place in the world. By the end of the drive, Melanie and I were extra hyped to try it out.
It was obvious which house was the restaurant. Trucks lined the streets and a line of people stood at the door. We hopped out of the car and immediately heard live music and laughter. When the smells drifted to us, my stomach grumbled. I thought to myself, This is gonna be a good meal.

The woman who owned the home was so polite and friendly. She knew practically everyone by name and was quick with the orders. Once we got our food, we didn’t think twice about plopping down and eating it as soon as possible. It smelled that good.

Everything we tried was ridiculously tasty. The portions were huge, but I couldn’t stop myself from eating every last bite. We also got to try the homemade ginger drink, which was delicious and tingled our mouths. It was one of those meals where you can’t talk about anything except how phenomenal the food was. If we can, Melanie and I are going next Friday for another round.

We would recommend this place to anyone. We had never tried curry goat before we came to this home restaurant, but by the end, we were fighting over the last piece. I was shocked by the amount of conch given for one entrée. Every single thing we tasted was so flavorful and absolutely worth the drive across the island.
If you want to try out this hidden home restaurant, all we know is that it is a home behind in the Christiansted area. Ask around; you might be able to find this incredible gem of St. Croix.
Wow! Thank you for spotlighting this gem. I will be visiting the island in December and will look for the restaurant.
