I recently had the pleasure of attending “Dead Shred at The Fred”, a two-day festival hosted by The Fred resort in St. Croix. As someone who loves music and culture, I was excited to experience this unique celebration that promised to showcase talented artists, and exceptional music, and promote local culture and community.

From the moment I arrived at the resort, I knew I was in for a treat. The picturesque location provided the perfect sunset backdrop for the festival’s diverse lineup of musical acts, which included Shred Is Dead, Easy Riders, Marcus Rezak, Hayley Jane, Kurt Briggs Schindler and The Shindigglers, Swimmer, Porschia, and more. Each artist brought their unique sound to the stage creating an unforgettable experience for those in attendance.
The first day of Dead Shred at The Fred was an amazing experience filled with incredible performances by some very talented musicians. Haley Jane, Easy Riders, and Marcus Rezak took to the stage individually, each showcasing their unique sound and style. However, it was their encore that truly stole the show.
As the three artists came together for a collaborative jam session, it was clear that something special was about to happen. They seamlessly blended their musical styles, creating a magical fusion of sounds. Their incredible talent and chemistry were on full display as they went back and forth, each taking turns to shine while effortlessly complementing one another.
Haley Jane’s soulful vocals filled the air with emotion while Easy Riders brought their signature funky sound to the mix. Marcus Rezak’s impressive guitar skills tied everything together perfectly. Together they created a unique and memorable performance that left everyone wanting more.
This collaborative jam session showcased not only individual talent but also demonstrated how artists can come together to create something truly special when given a chance to collaborate. It was a testament to how this music can bring people from different backgrounds together and create something truly magical.
The second day of Dead Shred at The Fred was just as exciting as the first, with a lineup of incredibly talented artists who brought their own unique style to the stage. Porschia, Kurt Briggs Shindler and The Shindigglers, Swimmer, Easy Riders (who performed for the second time), and finally, Shred is Dead all took turns captivating audiences with their music.
Porschia’s soulful voice and powerful lyrics set the tone for what would be another incredible day of music. Local St Croix favorites, Kurt Briggs Shindler and The Shindigglers brought their signature blend of rock and blues to the mix, while Swimmer showcased their impressive musicianship through intricate arrangements and dynamic performances.
Easy Riders returned to the stage once again, bringing their funky sound back to life. Their infectious energy had everyone jamming along to their music, proving that they were truly one of a kind.
Finally, it was time for Shred is Dead to take over the stage. With their electrifying guitar and piano riffs, they quickly became a highlight of the night. Their passion for music was evident in every note they played – it was impossible not to get caught up in their high-octane energy.

But Dead Shred at The Fred wasn’t just about music; it was also a celebration of St. Croix’s rich cultural heritage. Fire dancers from Purafire and Moko Jumbies presented by Guardians of Culture Moko Jumbies wowed audiences with their mesmerizing performances while showing visitors about traditional Caribbean culture. They performed on both nights.
The atmosphere at The Fred was electric with people from all walks of life coming together to enjoy great music and art while also witnessing St. Croix’s unique cultural traditions. And when we weren’t dancing or enjoying live performances, we were lounging by the pool listening to some early daytime poolside DJs – it truly felt like paradise.

The weekend was a celebration of diversity that brings people together through music, art, and culture in one unforgettable experience. Many new and lasting friendships were made.
In conclusion, if you ever have a chance to attend Dead Shred at The Fred or any other event hosted by The Fred resort in St. Croix – don’t hesitate! You won’t regret experiencing this unique celebration that showcases talented artists while promoting local culture and community.
