Hey fellow adventurers! Are you ready for a day trip to a spot you absolutely cannot miss: Point Udall, the easternmost point of the United States. And believe me, when I say, this place is an absolute gem.
The drive up to Point Udall is simply breathtaking. As you wind your way through the arid climate of the East End of St. Croix, you’ll be surrounded by cactus and desert-like foliage, with turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea just beyond. Keep an eye out for Goat Hill rising above the road to the south, and Buck Island in the distance to the north.

But the real showstopper is Point Udall itself. Named for former Secretary of the Interior Stuart Udall, this tranquil spot offers stunning panoramic sea views and is home to the Millennium Monument. Designed by Bill Rich and erected in 2000 to commemorate the beginning of a new millennium for the United States, this giant sundial is truly a sight to behold.
But that’s not all. If you’re lucky, you might even catch one of the “pop-up” parties that have been happening at Point Udall lately, most recently the talented DJ POURIA. What a backdrop for a sunset or sunrise set. See the video…Wow!
If you’re planning to visit Point Udall, I highly recommend going on New Year’s Eve. It’s one of the best places to ring in the new year, with a party that lasts until sunrise. Just be warned, it’s so popular that the parking lot is always crowded with cars, so you might want to consider taking a taxi or a shuttle instead.
And one more thing: don’t forget to bring plenty of water, snacks, sun protection, and your snorkel gear if you want to head down to Jack’s and Isaac’s Bays from the small parking lot just below the monument. And if you’re planning to stay for the “pop-up” party, you might want to bring a picnic breakfast or lunch with you and spend some time taking in the tranquility of Point Udall.

So, there you have it, fellow adventurers. Point Udall is a must-see destination on St. Croix, with breathtaking views, fascinating history, and the possibility of a wild New Year’s Eve party. What more could you ask for? Get ready to pack your day (and night) gear and head to the easternmost point of the United States for an adventure you won’t forget.
This has real meaning. My father was stationed at the St.Croix EXPERIMENT STATION BY THE SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION SERVICE (SCS) 1959-1965.As a young teen ager I had the distinct pleasure of taking Mrs. Udall and Mrs, Freeman(her hubby was Sec of Agriculture) snorkeling when they visited Dad. We went to St John and I took them all over Trunk Bay. They loved the Islands and were fun people.
I will forever be grateful for that time in the islands
Very cool, thanks for sharing!
