As a person with a chronic sweet tooth, I knew that I couldn’t go without some ice cream during my time at St. Croix. I will forever be grateful to my taxi driver, Iron, for recommending Armstrong’s Homemade Deli and Ice Cream. I haven’t had ice cream this good in a long time.

Homemade Soap Class at the CMCA
Every time Zane and I walk through Downtown Frederiksted, we pass the Caribbean Museum Center for The Arts (CMCA). As time passed, curiosity got the best of me, so I looked up what the place was for. The website revealed that it was a building full of beautiful Caribbean art, but also a place that offered art classes! I jumped online and immediately booked the first class I saw: Friends in the Courtyard homemade soap making!
Does Everyone Have Crabs?
The words, “Last call for crabs! Does everyone who wants crabs have crabs?”, are actually quite common here on St. Croix. Each week, people line up in bars, resorts, and restaurants to get crabs… hermit crabs. Why? To, hopefully, win Tito and Sue’s Crab Races.
There’s An Underwater National Monument?
We have heard nothing but rave reviews for the Buck Island tour, so we knew we had to do it. A quick walk on the Christiansted Boardwalk led us to Caribbean Sea Adventures and their beautiful powerboat. Booking a tour to Buck Island was one of the best decisions of our trip yet.
The East to Our West: Christiansted Boardwalk
Zane and I have stayed on the West of St. Croix for most of our time, but we realized it was time to venture past Frederiksted. The other side of the island was calling our name. After some deliberation, we chose our first destination: the Christiansted Boardwalk.
Rainbow Beach: Our Late Start Champion!
Even on vacation, everyone has a day of slow rising and sleeping in. Ours was today. Taking our time to get up, we had no clue what the day had in store for us. We may not have had a plan, but sometimes, planless days become the best days. Looking for inspiration on late start activities, we remembered that a friend had recommended Rainbow Beach for a day of relaxation and recovery. With our bags packed, we took off down the road to see what the day had in store for us.
Put Fort Frederik On Your Travel Bucket List: History, Beautiful Views, and Cannons!
Zane and I had the opportunity of visiting Fort Frederik, or Frederiksfort, early this morning. As new travelers to St. Croix, we were eager to learn more about the island and its history. A mid-eighteenth-century fortress seemed the perfect place to submerse ourselves in St. Croix’s story. As we walked over to the fort, its blood red paint and massive cannons facing the ocean drew us in. We knew we were in for an adventure before we even made it through the door.
Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Goodnight! Our First Day on St. Croix.
As travelers from the States, Zane and I were craving some excitement for our summer. We never thought that we would end up in St. Croix, but here we are! And, boy, are we amazed at the amount of culture and adventure we’ve heard of and experienced in the 24 hours we’ve been here.
