Your enthusiasm and energy have turned Sandy Point Art Oasis into a true gathering place for art, culture, and relaxation right here on the beautiful shores between Dorsch Beach and Sandy Point.
The music scene of St. Croix is set to receive an exciting boost as Hayley Jane & The Housewives bring their dynamic performances to the island from March 3-5, 2025. The venues will be The Fred and Sandy Point Art Oasis in Frederiksted. This series of concerts will mark the first major musical events at the newly established Sandy Point Art Oasis, promising a spectacular experience for both locals and visitors.
The St. Croix Welcome Center proudly hosted an exciting art contest for talented Virgin Island artists, inviting them to recreate the unforgettable final scene from the American classic film The Shawshank Redemption. What made this assignment especially meaningful? Many people don’t realize that the iconic last scene of the film, set on a beach in “Zihuatanejo, Mexico,” was actually filmed on the stunningly beautiful Sandy Point Beach here in St. Croix!
While wandering the beach on the west end of St Croix scavaging thru the shells and rocks washed ashore, I stumbled upon what I thought was a simple broken piece of ceramic glass with an intricate pattern of blue and white. I didn’t think much of it until a friend stated that this was likely a somewhat rare and cool historical discovery. She called it “Chaney”. Chaney carries an interesting history, embodying the playful alchemy that transformed broken fragments into coin-shaped tokens of imagination.
Part two of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) Caribbean Music Festival Series was truly a night to remember. As an admittedly new and unsophisticated fan of jazz, I was blown away by the talent and energy displayed by each performer.
The festival offers an opportunity to experience the unique mix of cultures through music. The free outdoor community concerts held at the Frederiksted Promenade in St. Croix offer a vibrant atmosphere and a chance to connect with the local community.
I recently had the pleasure of attending “Dead Shred at The Fred”, a two-day festival hosted by The Fred resort in St. Croix. As someone who loves music and culture, I was excited to experience this unique celebration that promised to showcase talented artists, and exceptional music, and promote local culture and community.
