My partner, Melanie, and I are new travelers to St. Croix. After a long day of snorkeling and soaking in the beauty of the island, we couldn’t imagine that our adventure-filled day could get any better. That was until our local friend told us about the most relaxing way to end such an exhilarating day: the Lyric Sails sunset cruise. St Croix is known for having one of the most beautiful sunsets in all of the Caribbean. From what we experienced, taking a sunset cruise may be one of the best decisions we made on our trip!

Put Fort Frederik On Your Travel Bucket List: History, Beautiful Views, and Cannons!
Zane and I had the opportunity of visiting Fort Frederik, or Frederiksfort, early this morning. As new travelers to St. Croix, we were eager to learn more about the island and its history. A mid-eighteenth-century fortress seemed the perfect place to submerse ourselves in St. Croix’s story. As we walked over to the fort, its blood red paint and massive cannons facing the ocean drew us in. We knew we were in for an adventure before we even made it through the door.
Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Goodnight! Our First Day on St. Croix.
As travelers from the States, Zane and I were craving some excitement for our summer. We never thought that we would end up in St. Croix, but here we are! And, boy, are we amazed at the amount of culture and adventure we’ve heard of and experienced in the 24 hours we’ve been here.

Multi-Grammy Winning Artists Light Up the Stage at the USVI Caribbean Music Festival in Frederiksted
Part two of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) Caribbean Music Festival Series was truly a night to remember. As an admittedly new and unsophisticated fan of jazz, I was blown away by the talent and energy displayed by each performer.
The festival offers an opportunity to experience the unique mix of cultures through music. The free outdoor community concerts held at the Frederiksted Promenade in St. Croix offer a vibrant atmosphere and a chance to connect with the local community.

There is so much to see and do on this historic island. St Croix in the US Virgin Islands is the perfect place to explore and escape into paradise. With only one cruise ship (on rare occasions two) in port at a time, you don’t have to worry about battling large crowds and can make the most of your time here.
St Croix’s St Patrick’s Day: Celebrating a Unique Blend of Irish and Caribbean Culture
Did you know that St Croix throws an epic St Patrick’s Day Party? What makes it so special, you might ask? Take a rich cultured island famous for its rum add a healthy pinch of Irish heritage, and you’ve got a recipe for a truly unique and colorful celebration.
Sky Sightings in the Virgin Islands
While spending time on St Croix, I’ve seen some amazing things over the skies of the Virgin Islands this week. From military exercises with A-10 Warthogs, Apache Helicopters, and C-130 Gunship planes flying over St. Croix to the rare planetary alignment of Jupiter, Venus, and the Moon over the horizon, it’s been quite a week to stare up into the skies.

But the thing that had everyone talking was the SpaceX 9 launch which lit up the skies over the northern Caribbean on Monday night. There were lots of great photos capturing a curious phenomenon bursting into the evening sky, but also lots of speculation about what it could be. I mean, who doesn’t love a good alien invasion or Chinese spy effort story? But it wasn’t either of those things.
St. Croix’s Off the Beaten Trail – Discovering the Oldest Baobab Tree in the Caribbean!
There aren’t many Caribbean islands where you can find a tree that evokes an Avatar movie comparison, but on the tiny island of St. Croix in the Virgin Islands, that’s exactly what you’ll find — an Avatar-worthy Baobab Tree! The Grove Place baobab is estimated to be over 250 years old, a product of African seeds brought to St. Croix by enslaved Africans during their transatlantic voyage. Standing with a trunk girth of over 50 feet, this “Tree of Life” stands as an impressive testament to centuries-old Caribbean culture.
